The obverse depicted three letters of the Bulgarian alphabet "A Б B" and laurel branch passing through them. Above them is the nominal value of 2 leva. In the outer circle of the coin has an inscription “Peoples Republic of Bulgaria”.
The reverse side depicted figures of St. Cyril, holding in his hands parchment with the Slavonic alphabet and St. Methodius holding in his left hand curled parchment. In the outer circle of the coin has an inscription “Cyril and Methodius”, “Slavonic letters” and the years “863 - 1963”.
